About Jinwook Chae
Jinwook Chae is a sound engineer, researcher, and educator with a deep passion for sound synthesis, digital signal processing (DSP), and the history of electronic music. He currently serves as an Adjunct Professor in the Department of Music & Sound Technology at Korea University of Media Arts, and as the Admissions Reviewer and Program Supervisor for the Electronic Music major at Seoul Institute of the Arts.
His career uniquely combines academic rigor with extensive industry expertise. He has led sound programming as a Soundware Engineer at KURZWEIL Music Systems and DSP programming as DSP Engineer for Native Instruments’ REAKTOR5 Project.
As an author, he has published numerous foundational texts to make complex audio technologies accessible to both engineers and artists. His notable publications include the first Korean guide to the FAUST programming language, alongside comprehensive books on Pure Data, interactive music with Arduino, and the history of experimental electronic music.
He is currently developing a DIY Modular Synthesizer utilizing RP2040 and Pure Data, alongside an FPGA-based sound processor. Looking toward the future, he is in the process of establishing a new research institute and publishing company dedicated to pioneering music and sound content.
